LA CASA EN LA LAGUNA
directed by Rebecca Apparicio | Gala Hispanic Theatre
In this adaptation of the novel by renowned author Rosario Ferré, a woman struggles to find her artistic voice when her marriage and the island of Puerto Rico is in a constant state of flux. Against the continuing socioeconomic and racial struggles of the island, the protagonist must fight to tell her own story… in her own words.
"The projections designed by Kelly Colburn—from the waters of the lagoon, the beaches, the cities, and to the final wall of flames—added to the tension inherent in the characters’ lives."

"Sánchez's set works perfectly with Kelly Colburn's projections; the use of the home's window wall both to display the lagoon view as well as newsreels that showed the passage of time and relevant events between scenes was clever and helpful."

"Projections by Kelly Colburn that use video footage, scrawled dates, and announced time divisions to guide the audience through the complicated history"
