A modern myth based on Alcyone, Kingfishers follows the story of a family whose best intentions may not always be the right intentions. The day before her wedding to another young God in the Pantheon, a young goddess runs away to Earth to experience what it's like to be human. There, she meets and falls in love with a young man. Returning immediately to Olympus to call off the wedding, her parents make her choose: marry the God or watch her human lover die. Returning one last time to say goodbye, her parents plot to have the boy killed. When the young goddess finds what her parents have done, she confronts them and her parents are forced to realize that in all their efforts to secure their daughters' happiness, they have been her ruin.
